Sargon RD22
Distributed Data Acquisition System for wide-area telemetry with GPS timing for sychronized data logging
The RD22 is a Distributed Data Acquisition System for wide-area telemetry and synchronized data logging.
Its modules leverage the precise timing information contained in GPS signals to achieve millisecond-level synchronization across large distances. The modules can run for several days on battery power while continuously streaming data across a cellular connection. Data is also continuously recorded to the on-board memory card, allowing use in remote locations with poor or absent cellular coverage.
Stored data is kept for at least one week before being automatically overwritten. Both live and recorded data is tagged with precision timestamps as long as the GPS signal is available, allowing synchronized display of data acquired from several distant modules.

Architectural Limitations | each acquisition module must be registered with a single workstation; there is no limitation on the number of workstations |
Channel Count | number of registered modules per workstation: 32 simultaneous data display: 64 channels (8 channels/graph x 8 graphs) practical suggestion: 16 channels (4 channels/graph x 4 graphs) |
Data Transfer | each workstation and its associated modules should ideally have Internet connectivity, e.g. through the cellular network, but manual data transfer by memory card is possible |
Data Security | data is routed over the public Internet; all connections use TLS for encryption and mutual authentication with 2048-bit keys |
Data Synchronization Between Modules | timing error < 10 ms between any 2 channels, when GPS signal is available at both modules |
